Local Purchase Training Programme
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit of the Medical Supplies Division (MSD) successfully organized and conducted the Local Purchase Hands-on Training Programme at the National Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS), Kalutara, from 5 June to 16 June 2026. The programme was conducted to enhance the knowledge and practical competencies of Swastha Health Information System users involved in local purchase activities from Line Ministry and Provincial Hospitals in the Western Province.
The training programme was attended by over 200 participants representing a broad range of healthcare and administrative disciplines. Participants included Accountants, Divisional Pharmacists, Chief Pharmacists, Chief Radiographers, Chief Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs), Pharmacists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Radiographers, Development Officers, and Public Health Management Assistants, all of whom play key roles in the local purchase process within their respective healthcare institutions.
The programme was designed and delivered by the MSD ICT Unit to strengthen participants’ capacity to effectively utilize the Swastha Health Information System for managing local purchase activities. Through comprehensive hands-on training sessions, participants gained practical experience in system functionalities, procurement workflows, and standard operating procedures, thereby promoting greater efficiency, accuracy, transparency, and compliance in the management of local purchases.
The successful completion of this training programme reflects the Medical Supplies Division ICT Unit’s continued commitment to supporting the digital transformation of Sri Lanka’s public healthcare sector through user capacity building and the effective implementation of the Swastha Health Information System. By equipping end users with the necessary technical knowledge and practical skills, the programme contributes to the standardized and efficient execution of local purchase processes across government healthcare institutions.
